← The Janus Engine

History can be reset.
Guilt cannot.

A choice you can't take back rewrites history. Guilt survives every reset.

In the 2300s, a scientist receives a completed but flawed time machine from their own future self. Its screen shows two fractures in history at once. Entering one closes it permanently, along with the other. The Janus Engine is a narrative time-travel game built around nearly 300 unique events across nine historical eras. Every choice writes a permanent record into an archive, and every record changes what the future looks like when you get there. When the weight of it becomes too much, players can perform an Origin Reset and start the timeline over, but the world remembers, and it gets measurably worse with each loop.
